Normal Kids

I was born in California and lived there until I was 7. Not sure that makes me a true California Girl at all ... but I have good memories.

One such memory includes the fact that we never had much snow. I bet that's why I hate snow and cold so much. I was born warm and stayed warm for 7 years. But to make up for the lack of snow, we would build tumbleweed snowmen. I wish my scanner worked, I'd upload the very picture of our very tumbleweed snowman. I realize calling him a "snowman" is very misleading, but one has to get the idea, which doesn't seem as effective when I say we would build a "tumbleweed man".

Check out a picture at this blog. This guy's tumbleweed snowman is much better than mine ever were ... And here's another lady's memories of tumbleweed snowmen.

But the point of the story ... I was telling the story a few weeks ago to the kids over dinner. AJ said he remembered seeing the picture. I think Sam grunted. And Sarah asked incredulously, after a moment of silence, "Did normal kids build tumbleweed snowmen?"

I've lived in Michigan since I was 3 and have remembered snow since about then. I don't know what I'd do without it lol.
