More Update

I get to go home from work in 20 minutes. After a long time with no sleep for two days, my bed is calling to me quite loudly. I'll try to make it till my relief comes ... giving you more update may help. Maybe.

My Social Work project. Remember the donating winter goods one? It's going really well. I've been amazed at how much help we're getting. And all because I put it on the blog. Amazing. We've been on the front page of the University web site. We've been in the University newspaper twice already. We are due to be in the local newspaper next week. We have been getting some good stuff trickling in. Phone calls asking how people can help. Even a little scout sending fliers to his neighborhood and picking stuff up for us. It's been so wonderful to see people come through for this. The most amazing news we had was from the LDS church, large in this area, of course. The LDS Humanitarian Center is planning to donate 100 coats. Is that just wonderful!? I think it's amazing what just a few busy University students can do when they put their mind to it. How grateful we are for those who have come to help us out! We are still in need of hats, gloves, boots ...

On the same lines as my project ... which is donating to men getting out of prison, so they can maintain employment ... my little brother, age 23, is back in the big house. Everyone is so disappointed in him, I just love him. I feel bad he's back there (violating parole), but I don't feel disappointed. Just sad for him, really. I wonder why, when people have family members make poor choices, their first instinct is to write a letter saying how disappointed they are. What would happen if, instead, my bro got 7 letters saying how much he was loved, instead of 7 letters saying how upset people are? Can you imagine what difference that would make? Maybe I'm just naive.

Anyway, I know this is serious and our blog is far from that most of the time ... but just wanted to stay awake and keep you all updated on why I am scarce most of the time. There are other issues as well, but I'll get to those later. For now, I am 6 minutes away from getting out of here and hitting my pillow! Heaven.

Great to hear about your project doing so much good for people.

Don't give up on your brother, a kind word from you now would do more good than you can know.

All this will add to stress. I hope things work out for the best for your brother. Get some rest yourself too.
