Fainting

Ok, here's a sad thing.

Not too many years ago, nothing with blood, wounds, injuries, or other such things really bothered me. In fact, I thought it was kind of cool stuff. Then something happened. Though I'm not quite sure what.

I was sitting in an ice cream parlor with some friends. One of them was telling a story of a bike crash she experienced where her front tire came off, she went head over handle bars, and basically stopped by using her face as a brake. Ouch. Well, I guess that's were it started for me, because I passed out right there in my chair. I came to wondering why these people were in my room. Then I realized what really happened.

Anyway, since that time, I can't endure stories about injuries, or witness them. Small scrapes and such aren't too bad, but gashes, gouges, really potential painful injuries, and other such things pretty much drain the blood right from my head, and out I go.

To illustrate how whimpy I am about this kind of thing, just the other night I was cutting up potatoes, and my knife slipped and I cut my finger. It wasn't bad at all. It was about 1/4 of an inch long and just deep enough to bleed. Well, while running it under water, I had to sit down and put my head between my knees to keep myself from passing out. Then again when I went to put a bandaid on - on the floor with my head between my knees.

Chelle and her kids have to check with me and monitor their stories if they might include something potentially faint-worthy.

What a whimp.

Yep, I hear that! I used to have NO problems with that kind of stuff and then I had kids. You think labour would make you MORE immune to that kind of stuff, but I guess not.

Then I wonder what did it for me. The only "children" I have walk around on 4 legs.

I guess it's a good thing you aren't an OR nurse.
